CBRE India’s Research and A&T Occupier Group surveyed leading office space occupiers in the country, to gauge their evolving strategies amidst a dynamic external environment. The survey highlights the changing priorities of corporates towards creating more efficient and experiential workplaces.
Key highlights of the 2019 India Office Occupier Survey:
- Strong expansion intention: nearly 80% of the respondents plan to expand their portfolio in India in the next two years; much higher than those at the APAC level, where only 45% respondents indicated expansion intention
- In addition, headcount growth is expected to be relatively higher than portfolio growth as almost 90% of the respondents plan to continue hiring competitive talent
- Almost 70% of the respondents prioritised installation of PropTech and innovation in workplace strategies over cost savings and space optimisation
- As India is moving up the knowledge & skill curve due to the changing nature of jobs, corporates identified software dev. / R&D / knowledge process centers as the most preferred business functions they operate in India; compared to only back-office operations a few years ago
