E Commerce as a percentage of all retail sales dropped 1.7% from Q3 to Q4 of 2020, the first time there has been a decline since records have been kept.
Retail employment year-over-year was down 3.3% for November but has held relatively steady for the past few months as the recovery continues.
In the Philadelphia region, growth in grocery spending has outpaced growth in total consumer spending by 18.6%.
Despite the severe economic downturn due to the COVID-19 pandemic, retail sales this year-to-date are only 1% less than the same period for 2019. Taking away food services, retail sales are nearly 3% higher year-to-date through 2020 than in 2019.
