The critical initiative of Crestview Commons was to create Austin’s first transit oriented development and act as a catalyst for the reinvention of North Austin at Lamar Street. In order to accompish this goal, a 73-acre site, which was the former home of a large chemical company, was purchased and nearly two years was spent clearing andremediating the site. In addition, the HSR development team worked with the City of Austin to create high density entitlements and partner with Capital Metro to locate a commuter rail station on the Master Plan.
This redevelopment initiative provides a stimulating residential setting that includes a convenient concentration of retail and office uses - all built around a major stop on the City’s commuter rail system.
