High Street Residential, the residential subsidiary of Trammell Crow Company, along with partner Geolo Capital, announce its collaboration with ArtLifting, a social enterprise representing artists with disabilities, to integrate innovative art installations into The Frankie, a new multifamily development in southeast Portland, Oregon. The initiative aims to highlight and support underrepresented artists while enriching the cultural fabric of their local communities.

Located at 3260 SE Milwaukie Ave. in the storied Brooklyn neighborhood of Portland, The Frankie is poised to bring new vitality to the area by providing a mix of affordable and market-rate housing with top-of-the-line amenities. The five-story, 120-unit complex was delivered in August and is made up of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units ranging in size from 443 square feet to 1,518 sq. ft. Unit amenities include modern tile, quartz countertops, in-unit washers & dryers, and walk-in closets while community amenities include a fitness center, outdoor BBQ area, speakeasy tenant lounge, and bike storage. Greystar will handle leasing and management of the property.

As part of the initiative to reflect and enhance the surrounding neighborhood, The Frankie features artwork from several proud members of ArtLifting’s artist community, including US veteran Yvette, local artists Lindsey Holcomb and Denali Brooke, Boston-based Lisa Murphy, and Rochester-based Laural Hartman.

Yvette’s artwork "Leave the Lights On, Communities Will Recover" plays a prominent role in the property. Influenced by her military career and personal experiences as a black woman, Yvette creates pieces that evoke a sense of home and belonging.

“For me, it symbolizes the resilience and hope that can be found in unity and support,” said Yvette about her piece. “By keeping the lights on, you all are metaphorically encouraging people to stay connected, to provide assistance, and to offer a guiding light in the face of adversity—even in the darkest times. And the sheer beauty of the colors in the painting invokes the strength of our community to recover and be steadfast."

The original painting has been reproduced at a large scale for The Frankie. It is also incorporated into The Frankie branding and marketing, intentionally infusing art and social impact into every project touchpoint.

“We are pleased with the outcome of this partnership, which celebrates the creativity and vision of underrepresented artists,” said Damin Tarlow, principal of High Street Residential’s Portland office. “We aim to create spaces that authentically reflect cultural richness and also inspire community engagement. We hope our residents enjoy these artistic spaces."

ArtLifting is comprised of over 190 artists with disabilities in 35 states. Artists earn 55% of profits from art sales and royalties producing a profound impact on their lives. To date, ArtLifting has sold tens of millions of artwork to 50 of the Fortune 500, including major corporations like Bank of America, Hines, Pfizer, CBRE, Google, and Amazon. These sales have produced profound financial impacts and advanced the careers of underrepresented artists.
